New Years EVE

So on this New Years Eve I thought about the truth and what it is that we all consider to be the truth about our lives and our situations. The Truth is something very different to all people. Everyone has a different Idea of what that 5 letter word is. Some of us believe that we are practicing our faith, belief, and contributions to a larger complex by continuously doing the same thing over and over and over again. I have found in my life this habitual behavior is not the "true" meaning of faith or what it is that GOD is calling us to. Again "GOD" is and means something different to us all. No matter how organized religion would like to put it in a box for people it is not that way.

For this new Years Eve please take the time to look at the complete picture ladies and gents. Please take the time to realize that we all have a need to know the truth and generally desire to know the truth constantly. Faith is not a word to be used for banging your head against the wall. It is (for bible people)- The substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things unseen. Wikapedia-Faith is the confident belief or trust in the truth or trustworthiness of a person, idea, or thing. Webster would say: firm belief in something for which there is no proof.

What does this have to do with being a producer? Well, Glad you asked, it is a good thing to be aware of Religious practices that are healthy and ones that are not going to be fruitful. Don't keep using the same formula and wondering why it doesn't work and using faith an excuse for failure. Use you brain and keep recreating and reinventing your ideas and products so that it never gets old or stale and you remain a player in the game! I leave you with A great poem to piggy back on my post yesterday: INVICTUS.

Black as the pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.
In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.
Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds and shall find me unafraid.
It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.

INVICTUS

PEOPLE are made of more than just flesh and bones. If I ever questioned this notion, today i received a definitive answers as I watch Morgan Freeman and Matt Damon deliver a powerful performance in INVICTUS. The music was beautiful and I cried as I was convicted by the truth. The truth is transformative. As I faced what I believed to be one of the largest defeats in my adult professional career as a producer one month ago, the true character in me was feed today.

Today I was convicted because forgiveness has been something I have never fully embraced on a personal level. As i watched Nelson Mandela walk away from 30 years in a cell and be so self less that he would put his country ahead of his hurt, disappointment, and his honest right to seek retribution for his countries sins and transgressions against who he was, he simply choose something different...to forgive.

I was convicted so much in that that I saw that my calling was to be that person and that I have been using excuses of my past and the way I was raised for my own undealt with hurt that serves no purpose because I can't change that, I can only look and love into the future.

How is this relevant as a producer? Well, when you take a defeat in a venture that doesn't do as well as you would like many times the first answer is to give and find fault in yourself and use that as a case against yourself. Believe that your courage, character, or strength shown in the past is not relevant.

Nelson Mandela showed a strength and courage I have only heard about but knew in my heart of hearts I already knew oh too well. I knew that I was watching my self on that screen! scary, I may not be able to unite people with a rugby time or have great attractive guys in my story, but I do know that I have the power to forgive, the power to change people, the power to be changed and the power of my ancestors inside me. THANK YOU NELSON MANDELA for showing me the way today!

A LONG ride home

Wuz up HOPERA WORLD!

Soooooo, today I took the long ride home from Cleveland on the infamous MegaBus. It was a cool ride but what was more inspiring was the conversation I was having with myself about the future of HOPERA. So it was revealed to me that I need to follow my heart in what the vision i was given.

Hip Hop is definitely in need of a make over, in many regards and is getting on right now. I know that artists like Jay-z and Diddy (for two different reasons) are heroes to me for their contributions. On the Opera side "IN my HOPERAWORLD" there is very little innovation going on and the game does need a make over (a 150 year old make over). So as most of you all know I am the author of the book and producer of the revolutionary piece..(yea i said it, lol.) "A Fallen Hero" which is a full Opera , well HIp Hopera (that we are pushing to get to BROADWAY). Now my goal being the creative and Crazy guy that I am ( On the bus today) is the create a new product from the company that will really change the game of entertainment as we know it and introduce this new music to the world with a bang. Even a bigger bang than Opera, or broadway combined...the medium I love to call, the music concert.

So as I think of all of the sexual content in music shows, profanity, powerful lyrics, stupid lyrics, beautiful people and not so, well done and poorly done all these conversations have changed OUR lives through the medium of live concert. Sex is a beautiful thing when done responsibly, profanity is necessary, not to mention in most of our realities it is used all the time. This live concert medium has brought uncommon artists together like Alicia Keys and Kathy Battle, Beyonce and Whitney, Michael Jackson and Yo Yo Ma or even Jay-z and Nas (lol). All these great artists present concerts that essentially are theatrics and feature music fusion at its best, if it is done well!

Something for THE REAL PEOPLE, Finally. Not just people who can afford it but all people. So this is my new feet as a producer, a new music show outlining some amazing music from the likes of HoperaWorld Productions that will take the audience on a musical experience through a more light hearted musical journey with new musical arrangements, new singers, new instrumentation, new dance and a whole lot of HOPERA BABY! I leave you with a nice "Hip Hop Ballad" from my hero, Shawn Carter. Life is about relationship, and I am so looking forward to getting back to the relationship that changed my life forever, Opera, hip hop, gospel, R n B, blah blah blah..its all MUSIC.

This new show is going to HOT!

HIP HOP IN OHIO???

Wuz up HOPERA WORLD!

I had a rough night last night. There was too much heat in my room I am staying in here in Cleveland and not enough air circulating Tossing and turning all night long, all of that to say that I got up and went straight to a business meeting today with a great person I have have the pleasure of knowing for quite sometime.

This meeting was great in talking about HOPERA returning to Cleveland Ohio for the new concert version of the show featuring only the music of the show and a new outbox format that only HOPERA can create. Got some great advice and insight from the meeting and I am really looking forward to bringing the unique HOPERA fusion into a new venue. A venue we have never done before so this will be a great opportunity to present a fast pace music show to a young adult audience with real meaning and purpose. This will be more a hip hop, R & B, music focused crowd and less theatrically based, keeping in touch with the generation that we represent, and the real musician in me!

The meeting also shed light on what it is really to negotiate this thing of really being a good producer. Knowing when to take a risk and when not to. It also helped me to really capitalize on previous mistakes and errors made in a traveling show. A good producer will always be looking to the future for possibilities on how to keep the brand fresh and on the edge and musically keep pushing the envelope! This will be the new challenge for the next few weeks. Staying focused, encouraged in the face of real opposition and in a very hard business to be in and be successful! But I know I can do it, I was destined to do it!

This is my story. This is my song. This is my Journey! May the journey continue.

Mr. HOPERA

In keeping with the this fusion of Opera, this singer who is my favorite singer in the World right now and will sing in HOPERA! ( I am claiming that!) Please enjoy her, this song keeps me moving mountains everyday. Ms. Measha Bruggergosman everybody!

The Day Day After Christmas

Hello All:

Also, I will be embarking upon some interesting solo work and a new solo EP "Introducing Adrian Dunn. The Voice."

I have some new fun ideas and I will be sharing some with you all just to see what you think and if people will like them. Feeling good today, All for now.

Merry Christmas to all,
